<p>Eliud Kipchoge and Dalilah Muhammad have been named the male and female World Athletes of the Year at the World Athletics Awards 2019, held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco on Saturday (23).</p>
<p>Kipchoge, the winner of the award last year, added to his phenomenal marathon CV in 2019. In April he captured his fourth victory at the London Marathon with a 2:02:37 course record, the third fastest performance of all time. The 35-year-old Kenyan followed up in October by blasting through the distance's two-hour barrier with a 1:59:40.2 performance at the Ineos159 Challenge in Vienna.</p>
<p>Muhammad, 29, broke the world record in the 400m hurdles twice this year, first with a 52.20 performance at the US Championships in July to eclipse a mark which had stood since 2003. Muhammad broke it again at the World Athletics Championships Doha 2019, clocking 52.16 in one of the championships' most eagerly-awaited finals to claim the world title for the first time. <p>&nbsp;</p><div style="font-size: 0.8em;"><p><strong>&lsquo;For The Record&rsquo; Competition Terms and Conditions</strong></p><p>These rules supplement World Athletics&rsquo; Website Terms and Conditions clause 11 concerning the conduct of competitions organised and run by World Athletics. By taking part in this competition, the participant (the &ldquo;Competitor&rdquo;) accepts these rules and the Terms and Conditions of the Website (the &ldquo;Rules&rdquo;). In case of conflict between the Terms and Conditions of the Website and the present rules set out below, rules below will take priority.</p><p>1. WORLD ATHLETICS AND THE COMPETITION</p><p>World Athletics, an association recognised under the laws of Monaco with head office located at 6-8 Quai Antoine 1er, BP 359, 98007 Monaco, has decided to organise a competition &ldquo;For The Record&rdquo;&nbsp;to win a piece of athletics memorabilia from 19 February 2021 up to and including 1 March via the&nbsp;sign-up form on worldathletics.org (the "Website").</p><p>2. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRIES</p><p>The Competition, is open only to:</p><p>&bull; fans aged 18 and over. Only one entry per person is permitted and spammers will be&nbsp;disqualified. Entries from individuals or their families connected to World Athletics are not accepted and automatically void.</p><p>&bull; Entries must include the NAME of the person nominated as &lsquo;personal inspiration&rsquo;, and the&nbsp;REASON why this person has been an inspiration to them in athletics.</p><p>&bull; Entries must be received by Monday 1 March 2021 midday (12pm) Central European Time.</p><p>3. THE PRIZE</p><p>The prize that will be awarded will consist of a piece of memorabilia provided by an athlete as&nbsp;outlined in the rules. There is no prize alternative and the prize is non-transferable. The prize is as&nbsp;stated and cannot be sold or exchanged for cash, goods or services. World Athletics will arrange and&nbsp;pay for the costs of delivery of the prize to the winner.</p><p>4. CLOSING DATE</p><p>The closing date for submission is 1 March 2021 midday (12pm) Central European Time.</p><p>5. WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT</p><p>All entries shall be judged by a panel consisting of the CEO, Executive Director of Communications, Head of Marketing and the Chair of the Athletes&rsquo; Commission and the winner shall be announced by&nbsp;World Athletics on its website, social media platforms and channels. The winner of the Competition&nbsp;will be permitted to communicate their selection/win on social media only AFTER the&nbsp;announcements have been made officially by World Athletics on one of its official channels.</p><p>6. WINNER PUBLICITY</p><p>Entrants accept that World Athletics will have the right, without additional payment or permission, to&nbsp;use their (as well as any other person featured in submission) name, age, town and country of&nbsp;residence, likeness, and photographs, for the purposes of announcing the winner of this prize and for&nbsp;related promotional purposes, which includes, without limitation, promoting the Competition or the&nbsp;business of World Athletics in any communication, on any media worldwide.</p><p>7. DATA PRIVACY</p><p>Entrants consent to the use of their personal information by World Athletics for the purposes of&nbsp;organising the competition and if they win to the announcement and publicity on them as a winner of&nbsp;the prize.
